5. Product Function

The primary function of this fitting is to serve as a mechanical reducer, seamlessly joining two pipes of unequal diameters. It enables a secure transition between different pipe sizes, maintaining system integrity and flow within plumbing, heating, and industrial pipework.

6. Usage Instructions

  1. Cut the copper pipe squarely and deburr the cut end to ensure a clean surface.

  2. Slide the compression nut and then the ferrule (olive) onto the pipe.

  3. Insert the pipe fully into the fitting body until it bottoms out.

  4. Slide the ferrule and nut towards the fitting body and hand-tighten the nut.

  5. Using two properly sized wrenches, tighten the nut. Follow standard tightening practices: for fittings, it is recommended to tighten ¾ of a turn for 1/8" fittings and 1 ¼ turns for 1/4" fittings.

  6. After tightening, perform a pressure test to ensure no leaks are present.

7. Safety Precautions & Important Notes

  • Do Not Overtighten: Overtightening can deform the ferrule, damage the fitting body, or crush the tube, leading to leaks or making future disassembly difficult.

  • Do Not Reuse Ferrules: Once compressed, ferrules are deformed to create a seal. Reusing them may result in a poor seal and leaks.

  • Avoid Thread Sealants: The seal is made between the ferrule, tube, and fitting body, not on the threads. Using PTFE tape or pipe dope can interfere with proper sealing and tightening.

  • Ensure Tube Compatibility: Verify that the pipe material and size are compatible with this compression fitting.
